Joining the band from Tucson, AZ is Elijah Woodward. Elijah has been playing the pipes since 1999. Since then he’s competed in solo contests (and won prizes) all over the Western US and in Canada. In 2005 he had the honor of going to Scotland and piping in the World Pipe Band Championships with the Mesa Caledonia Pipe Band.
Elijah still plays with Mesa Caledonia at the Grade 3 level. He also does a significant amount of piping at dance competitions every year across Arizona, California, and now Nevada. Little known fact about Elijah: He actually used to be a highland dancer himself. If you ask nice enough he can even bust out a step or two of the highland fling. However, his knees aren’t what they used to be so don’t expect extended highcuts or anything like that.
When not bagpiping Elijah spends time with his wife and dog. When Elijah grows up he wants to be a drummer. His favorite quote is, “When I leave this world, I want it to be peacefully and in my sleep like my grandpa – not like the passengers in his car.”
